Kevin provides one-off performances and workshops in more than 80 mainstream schools and libraries every year. He is also involved in a broad range of longer-term or specialised educational work: from residencies and the development of resources to projects for people with disabilities or special needs. In four Haringey primary schools working towards a public performance at Alexandra

PRIMARY SHAKESPEARE
A collaboration between the National Theatre and Art of Regeneration, working
with primary school children on their creative responses to plays by Shakespeare
including The Tempest and A
Midsummer Night's Dream. [2001-04]
INTER-GENERATIONAL REMINISCENCE PROJECT
A series of workshops at a South East London primary school preparing a class
of Year 5 children to conduct interviews with a group of local elderly people.
Residency culminating in a local history audio-tape and booklet. [1998]

Performances and workshops culminating at the Royal Festival Hall in The
Imaginarium – a multi-media installation featuring children’s

WORDS & MUSIC
Collaboration with the Barbican Piano Trio and riverhouse
barn arts centre
in Walton-on-Thames, exploring Russian classical music and Russian folktales.
Project culminating in Baba Yaga, a performance incorporating live narration,
recorded children’s voices and music by Dmitri Shostakovich. [2004-05]
TALES IN THE CRYPT
Performances in the crypt of London’s medieval Guild Hall to celebrate
the tenth anniversary of Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership’s
Reading Partner’s scheme – linking city businesses to East London

PICTURE THIS
A range of art and storytelling projects linked to curricular themes combining
stories, music and movement with visual experimentation and picture-making.

Performances in ten primary schools and in-service training sessions for
teachers as part of a celebration of gypsies and travellers in the London

of Sifnos as part of a developing programme of creative arts activities.

A collaboration with the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, working with a theatre
director, visual artists, local children and community groups towards school-based
performances, presentations at Coventry New Cathedral and a carnival procession.

Gallery tours at Tate Britain and Tate Modern, school-based workshops and
teacher training as part of a programme exploring links between visual

A tour of Early Years Centres in South London working with pre-school children

A London Arts Board-funded project addressing specific literacy goals with
four storytellers and a film-maker working across the primary age-range

SUPERMARKET STORYTELLING
Storytelling in supermarkets in Kent and Warwickshire as part of The
Big Read, a collaboration between supermarket chain ASDA and public library

LITERACY PROJECT
Collaboration with a photographer, sound engineer and 5 year-old children
in an East London school culminating in a story-book and pamphlet of original
children’s lyrics with accompanying audio-tape. [1997]
CELTS IN KENT
Performances for children in Kent schools and libraries together with evening
performances for adults as part of Kent Festival
of Celtic Arts. [1996]
COMMON LORE STORYTELLING COMPANY
Co-devising and performing storytelling shows including Celebration [1997],
an exploration through music and stories of seasonal and cultural festivals
around the world; Lore of the Land [1996], stories and songs about the
natural environment; Freedom Train and accompanying Freedom

exploring the theme of Freedom across Key Stage 2 programmes of work in
English, Art and Technology, History and Music.
ENGLISH NATIONAL OPERA
Arts-in-education projects with the Baylis Program at English National Opera
including workshops for teachers and students on creating original music-theatre,
and co-ordination of a resource pack on interdisciplinary approaches to the
