This charismatic animateur and storyteller is not an actor and has never appeared professionally in a play. Neither is he a teacher. Yet he has the attributes of both and is clearly a great asset to the children with whom he works.
The Stage, 2003
Kevin has a long-standing fascination with the relationship between ancient and modern forms of creative expression, and the interaction between different artistic disciplines. In 1976 he gained a first class degree in English Literature and Drama at the University College of Wales. He then went on to pursue postgraduate research - on the radio and television plays of the Irish writer Samuel Beckett - and to lead practical drama criticism workshops at the University of London.
In his current practice as a storyteller, Kevin integrates elements of drama, music and dance into his stories and continues to draw inspiration from collaboration with other artists. With narrative at the heart of the performing arts, his storytelling services are much in demand from theatre practitioners, film-makers, visual artists, composers and choreographers.
Kevin also performs extensively on film, television and radio. Between 1988 and 1992 he co-wrote and presented Channel 4's Picture Box, a weekly arts programme for children and young people. His voice-over credits include the award-winning films Trojans, a documentary about the life of the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy and His Comedy, an animated film based on Gustave Dore's engravings of Dante's Divine Comedy. On Radio 4, his storytelling skills have been showcased on both Kaleidoscope and Pick of the Week.
